History API and History.js hashchange/anchorchange issue

When I am on www.mysite.com/raj and I do History.pushState(null, '',
'www.mysite.com/raj/bla#side'), the URL seems to immediately move from the
pushed URL to www.mysite.com/raj/side.
I am not understanding why this is happening.
